One of the good things about having grown kids (mine are 23 & 21 years old and busy in their own lives finishing college) is that Tom and I have time on the weekends to do what we want. We have decided to spend more time exploring the world around us. We’ve only lived in Tennessee for 2 years and there are LOTS of things to explore!!
Friday was a beautiful fall day- sunny, a light breeze and upper 50s- so perfect to get out & explore! We decided to ride our bikes on the Virginia Creeper Trail. It’s just over 30 minutes from us and gives us the option of how much we want to ride.

After making new foods and eating all week I have to get up and MOVE!! My exercise of choice is walking and hiking. So most weekdays I would put on my sneakers and head out my front door for a walk but when we moved to Tennessee 2 years ago I was no longer able to do that. Our house is on a curvy road and forget sidewalks most of the way doesn’t even have shoulders, just ditches or cliffs, so a quick walk was out. So I had to find somewhere to walk – close and safe and if the scenery was pleasant even better. Lucky for me there is a state park 15 minutes from my house!!
