Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng is one of those books that is much talked about. And if you look beneath the surface there is much to think about – is it a story of family? truth? loyalty? parent’s love? or something else? And it is one of those books I am ambivalent about. … I’m not sure if it was when I read the book or if it really just didn’t touch me, but there is a lot there and it is worth the read so you can decide for yourself.

When well known people author books it can go either way – it can be a hot mess or it can be enjoyable. So when I saw that a well known librarian, Nancy Pearl, had an authored a book I was curious and since she’s a librarian I was rooting for her. There are times when I like a little mystery and sometimes a cozy mystery series is what I crave. It seems like there are cozy mystery series for just about every interest. Uncorking A Lie by Nadine Nettmann combines a mystery with wine. What could be better!
Cafe By the Sea by Jenny Colgan is a great little book after a stressful week. It is a story of a young woman that is chasing her dream but she is not sure what her dream really is. It is a quick read that helps erase a bad day.
Time for the August Audio Book Round Up. I’ve listened to a mix of audio books, memoir, mystery, and several on the “Must Read” lists, in the last month and think Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling was my favorite.
Young Jane Young is an excellent read!! It grabbed me & wouldn’t let me go! I was only going to read a chapter & ended up reading the whole book in an afternoon which, in my eyes, is the mark of an excellent book!!
