Summer seems to be a time for love and weddings. I had the pleasure of reading 2 books with wedding in the title: A French Wedding by Hannah Tunnicliffe and The People We Hate at the Wedding by Grant Grinder. Both examine relationships and are an enjoyable read for a vacation day.
In A French Wedding by Hannah Tunnicliffe old friends get together to celebrate a 40th birthday in France lives are reexamined. Choices made long ago are questioned and the spouses, partners, and siblings found in their mix struggle to find a place in the group. A story of life, love, and deep friendship that is perfect read for a summer day.
Sometimes family is not what you expect and The People We Hate at the Wedding by Grant Grinder looks at the strained relationships of half-siblings. All their life Paul and Alice have resented their older, glamorous half-sister Eloise for her rich father. When Eloise gets married Alice is in the wedding party and Paul is forced to attend. this forces all of them to look at the truth in their lives and reevaluate relationships. A story of family, loyalty, and recognizing the truth and love.
