Beach books…. Books to read on a long, relaxing day at the beach or really anywhere on vacation or when you want to feel like you are on vacation. Beach books are some of my favorite books- they are fun, no pressure, soothing books that help you escape the every day. The characters are often people you recognize from your own life or people you would like in your life (at least in my favorite beach books). The beach book reviews I’m sharing today have the added bonus of being set primarily at the beach.

Beach House for Rent by Mary Alice Monroe is a story of loss, and family, and friendship, and finding the strength to be true to yourself while not giving up what you hold dear. Heather has never been on her own as a tragic accident left her devastated and mostly housebound until her father remarries and sends her to pursue her art at a beach house. Cara, the owner of the beach house, has been independent until circumstances had her return to the beach where she found love. The summer when Heather rents the beach house is life changing for both of them.

In The Identical by Elin Hilderbrand twin sisters Harper and Tabitha look the same but since their parents divorce where they each went with one their lives could not be more different. Tabitha ends up with their Mom and worries about appearances and rules. Harper ends up with their Dad and is the ‘loser’ with no direction. But when their Dad dies and their Mom is injured things change in unexpected ways. A story of family, love, perceptions, expectations, and living life. An enjoyable read.

Family, friends, old love, and trust collide in Same Beach, Next Year by Dorthea Benton Frank. Could you be friends with your husband’s old girlfriend? That is what Eliza has to decide when on a family vacation they run into Eve, a woman that used to date Adam (Eliza’s husband) and her family. A friendship between the families grows and they end up vacationing at the same beach, at the same time for years. But can Eliza trust them not to act on old feelings? A celebration of life, love, family, and trust that made for an enjoyable afternoon read and made me love author Dorthea Benton Frank again.

You can’t go wrong with any of these Beach Books!!
