Cookbooks!! That’s a magic word!! It combines my 2 favorite things (well after my family)- books and food!! I LOVE to read them, the recipes, the antidotes , tips and asides and occasionally I even make something. I have a bookshelf full of them and more scattered all over the house and I’m always looking for a new and different one.
Today’s cookbook is just that, new and different, before my friend gave me the cookbook I had never heard of “Ireland’s Most Famous Chef”, Rachel Allen. Well I am glad I’ve heard of her!! Her recipes are user-friendly and are for things I want to eat (so many of the glossy cookbooks I read include so many complicated steps or ingredients I have never heard of or have no interest in eating). The whole cookbook is friendly, like talking to a friend, each recipe has a brief blurb with a longer one at the start of each section. The photos are a mix of food and family adding to the feel of visiting with a friend.
So far I’ve made the Fondue Savoyard, what could be better than melty cheese on dippers) and Upside-Down Apple Cinnamon Cake I made for this. The cake was perfect for a Fall dessert (would have been even better if I had paid attention & made sure the center was set) – apples and cinnamon and a melty, sugar glaze, served warm with vanilla ice cream perfection. Will definitely make this again for a Fall dessert!!
The cookbook, Favorite Food at Home by Rachel Allen is a good addition to a cookbook collection.
Do you have a favorite new cookbook that you were surprised to find?
Enjoy and have a Sweet Morning!!!
